from This American Life
Time Bandit aired in an episode I hosted called Made to Be Broken. The episode was about rules and the moments in our lives when it might be OK to break them, or even just and right to break them. It aired, of course, during a pitched moment of rule-questioning in our country.
Still, when I began reporting the story, I didn't expect it would end up rhyming with the larger political conversation that's still reverberating all over the world — about inclusion and exclusion, whose voices take precedence, who decides whose voices take precedence, and so on. We specially commissioned the scoring music at the end for editorial reasons as much as aesthetic ones. — Sean Cole
